Now there are so many ways to go about breeding. Some people use breeder boxes, plant stuffed tanks or all natural in the community tanks. I was using breeder boxes but am leaning more towards bare bottom tanks stuffed with hornwort or java moss as show in the pic i have attached. That is currently holding platinum endler juvies. But I also have other tanks where the fish breed freely in there community tank and I have no issues. Anyone else use my tank methods, breeder boxes or do have some of your own methods ? Attachments:

If by breeder boxes you mean those plastic contraptions that used to hang on the side of the tank... I don't use them. Tried them but found they kinda stress the fish. I like your stuffed planted tank method. If I was intending to breed I would try to keep a species only setup designed with areas I think the fish may spawn in such as flat rocks, wood, some open sand areas, caves, etc. It really depends on how the fish spawn and what they prefer. But I'd also have get-a-way spots for the fry. I think that with livebearers your setup is very ideal. Lots of cover and hide-a-way spots. I've had fish breed in community tanks but the survival rates were low due to predation from other fish.

That is what I ment by breeder boxes. And yes the stuffed plant method work well for live bearers. I keep my bare bottom breeder tanks like that spot less with water changes twice a week. Water changes helps aid in quicker fry growth. And using java moss across the bottom works well with some egg layers as well. now I have a densely planted 55 gallon tanks with wild guppies, blue sword tails, black molly, neon tetra and ember tetra. And none of the fry are eaten by any fish. There are over a hundred guppy and sword tail fry swimming freely thru all the adults including the large sword tails and they don't even think twice about it. I have had a great luck with my fish that way. But if by chance I have a problem fish. I have way to break that habit too. But I also have a species only planted tank. So I guess I have many ways covered.
