Hello everyone. I thought I had done this already but apparently I hadn't... so I'll do it now.
My name is Murkywaters... umm ok so before you ask about the screen name I've had the same one for years and years so even though this is an aquarium forum and it's a little odd for this area of life the screen name stays LOL
So, I have three tanks set up right now. 2, 30Gal ones and one small 5Gal one (that I have decorated as a nursery). It was supposed to be for my kids, a friend gave us two guppies and well as you know one never just can have two guppies (one male one female) it just doesn't work that way lol. So that one ended up being my nursery. i put the baby guppies in there and watch them get bigger. it's all cutsy decorated.
My one 30Gal was originally going to be for Cichlids however is now a male guppy tank. It's a sand substrate tank and the hornwart is doing really well in there. The alge eater has been in there for about 2 months and he seem to be doing well... he has been digging in the sand and it's really neat to watch.
The last 30Gal tank is set up with river rock substrate and fake plants.... can't keep real ones in there as there is a huge snail. My daughter has named it Poop..... it's brown the name stuck... *shrug* I feed it greens from the fridge and it's growing massive and it's seriously awesome to watch it feed!!! In that tank are the colourful fish... i have a breeding pair of Gold Twin Bar Platies, a Red wag Sword who just dropped fry a few weeks ago (these are my fav the little red babies are so cute!!!) and a few tiger mollies one of which came to me preggers and dropped fry the same day as the platty and the sword.
Each tank also has a couple glass shrimp in there to help me keep it clean and I LOVE watching them swim around!
I have one special needs fish i have named Nemo... he swims for a while then needs a break. He sits on the bottom of the tank and everyone thinks he's dead. I don't even look anymore I just say "no that's Nemo" he's been doing that for 6 months now and he's still very much alive. He came to us not fully grown so he has a special place in our family
I also have three human kids who love watching the babies and my middle can tell now when one is peggers. She's also the one that names them. they're too young to fully get into the hobby yet but very much enjoy watching and helping however they can. I have heard them explain each fish and what they are to their friends.
Professionally I'm a Realtor and work for Valente although there my name is Christine Kravets not Murky lol
I'm looking forward to getting to know more people that don't think I'm a crazy person for becoming fish obsessed! I'm also looking forward to learning from you since I'm still very much a beginner. I'm enjoying figuring it all out and learning from each mistake (ie there is now a screen over the tank with the sword tails in it lol)
