I do not know how many of you realize that there is a black variety of the cherry shrimp! Took me a long while to get these pictures but here they are! Enjoy!!! First a back shot to see that is a cherry with the distinctive line on the back! Just hanging around! Just in case you did not see it here is a close up! And a bit closer yet! I love the blue they trow, but I know it is really black it just seems blue as the light reflects!

Thanks Joe! I got to get a good population growing and than I'll share! They take a long time to color up like that! Also they need a low light tank!

Gabe, those are awesome; is this a pure variety or achieved by breeding?

no expert on shrimp but they are nice. where did you get them from? have cherry shrimp but can't seem to get the population up. see babies all the time but I think my swordtail are eating them.

Shrimp look awesome. Probably wouldnt be able to keep them with reg cherries or fire reds or they'd breed out of that coloring.
fin- Your swordtails definetly eating them lol. Ive got tons of moss could sell you some which would help them be able to hide in the thick of it or take the other fish out.

Gabe, those are awesome; is this a pure variety or achieved by breeding? These are the "wild" shrimp that all the different color morphs were created! I was lucky enough to " rescue" nine adults and three baby shrimp from a hobbyist that thought them ugly and wanted to get rid of them! You would not be able to keep them with regular cherry's since in a few generation the red will be gone! Steve the swords are even large enough to do serious damage to adult shrimp populations!

I'm also working with blue rili and velvet shrimp crosses. I have some young ones with the tail and the head red and blue in between ( I mean just the head and tail not like the blue rili that is almost a quarter red on both ends!), also some sky blue and some almost just a hint of blue, and otherwise see through! Unfortunately I lost all my crystal reds, one day they were fine the next all gone! Sometimes that is how it is with shrimp!
