I'm a grandma!! Well almost. Tonight the kids and I were saying goodnight to the fishes and noticed eggs stuck to the leaves of one of my amazon swords. I think they are Sterbai eggs. I am so excited!! Hopefully no one eats them by the time I get a breeding tank set up!

Well this is exciting. Work quickly and get your breeder tank going. Just use cycled water from a established tank to help the process go quicker. Nothing is more rewarding or exciting than breeding and raising your own fish. I have never breed or had young corydora I am very interested to see how this works out. Good luck and post updates. ;D

I am a little worried that they may be unfertilized eggs I read that if they are fertile they will be beige and if they aren't they will be white. They are def. white. And I dont' have a male Sterbai. I am going to get a tank set up first thing tommorrow and search for a male. They say if she liked my tank enough to lay her eggs in it once, she will most likely do it again So now I will just wait and see if these eggs do anything.

if you get some fertile eggs and they hatch I'll buy some off you that is if you're willing to part with them seeing as they're almost your grandchildren lol

Well I certainly can't keep them all!! It really is a shame that she decided to do this before I had any breeding tanks set up. This morning there were only about 1/4 of them left and one of the corys was attacking the remaining few. I pulled the plant out and scraped the eggs off into a dessert bowl. I have to run into town to get a pump and air stone, etc. Hopefully some of them survive, but this is less than ideal!

I roughly counted about 30 eggs that I could save.

Just to update on the cory eggs. They are definitely unfertilized Sterbai eggs. I only have one Sterbai female and I have figured out she is the one sticking eggs all over the place. I finally caught her this morning with them in between her fins carrying them around So there goes the mystery... it did get me to set up one breeding tank in the meanwhile and if I can find a male of her species we are sure to have some baby corys soon.
