I had an algae problem and shut my lights off for 3 days. Worked for me!
As much of a pain as it is, only use rodi water.
Now for the ATO. I would love one for my 75 and 24 gallon. Are they hard to "install"?
Going to order some chemi pure Elite. $14.99 on Amazon unless someone knows of a comparable price in windsor? Seems like a container half the size is twice the price.
Is anyone as addicted as me?
Great tank "admin"

I have the auto top off set up with my reefkeeper elite its pretty simple setup. Iam pretty sure tunze sells a good one to. And iam prettysure aqua anamainia seels them pretty close to that if its the small one you use. Also iam very new but its getting addicting i have a nice big peace of orange frog spawn in my friends tank waiting to go in my tank. Just getting rid of this algea prob i think i finoly figured out.

I use a cheap, imperfect ATO system. An aqualifter pump (I think it's $20 or so on amazon), and a $3 dollar store timer. I keep RODI water in a 5g bucket, and have the timer set to pump 15 or 30 minutes over night. I still have to check the sump level regularly, but it's pretty simple.

OH - and instead of chemipure, I use GFO. Expensive but lasts a long time. I think Aqua carries it now (or bulkreefsupply.com).
And yes, addicted may be accurate (I try to maintain that I am just an enthusiast, but....)

I'll look into those Ato's. Thx. I plumbed my RODI unit into my sump with a humidifier switch! Costed me less than $15.

CAUTION - no experience here, but I have heard of people having issues storing water in non-food grade containers and then having algae and other issues later (again, just urban legends to me, but just a thought). You could test the TDS in the water out of the RODI and then again after sitting in the container for a week just to see. I need to do something like that though, because making water into 5g jugs as needed is a pain.

Just ordered myself a tunze ATO on Amazon. What do you keep your extra water in? Obviously you heat it too?

I don't heat my top off water, since my aqualifter trickles it in pretty slow - and it goes through the sump before making it up to the display.
I just keep mine in an old 5g salt bucket. I suggest getting a food grade barrel if you go that route.
