Simply one of the best things you can do for your fish . Each member of the Windsor Aquarium Society will smile when they see this picture.

Great job. This fish will reward you and often become very active after a refreshing water change.

Just dropped off 2 Gold Gourami’s and 6 albino corydoras paleatus . These gourami’s are very young with lots of growing to do . The catfish are also young fish with lots of spunk lol . They will all be a nice addition to the tank . Enjoy

Gourami in with Tiger Barbs? You might run into some issue with that combination. Tiger Barbs are fin nippers and may harass the Gourami, especially those feelers. Also two males can be VERY territorial with each other.
I had 2 Male Pearl Gourami that divided a 55GAL tank. Violence erupted at non-feeding time encounters. Most Labyrinth Lungs have a tendency to be aggressive to conspecifics and Betta and Gourami are infamous for this.
Maybe since they are young, the situation might be different, but as they mature, that may change, and not for the better.

I find the more tiger barbs you put together the better . They tend to bug each other more than the other fish . At least that’s my experience .
The gourami’s are very small , probably only a few months old , as they grow if there’s any issues they can be removed .

Yeah it would be wise to monitor that situation. 30GAL is pretty small for 2 fish that will grow to 6" a piece that have territory issues.
Gourami are nice looking fish but have not such a nice temperament.

Yeah, my full grown blue gourami did very well with my tiger barb school in a 40g. Every fish is different, and my experience will not be indicative of anyone else's, but neither species had any interest in the other in my case.

Some very disturbing news about our tank. Over the weekend, the metal radiators in the classroom had an air leak in the mechanism that forces the diaphragm to close which turns the heat off. Heat was pouring into my classroom all weekend. When I opened the door on Monday morning it was a trillion-million degrees in my room. I ran in, opened the window, and ran back out. It was unbelievable. I got someone from the office to come down and see for themselves because saying "It's hot in my room" just wasn't going to cut it. They called right away for someone to come and fix it. Then we noticed the fish tank was cloudy and I walked over. All the fish were dead. I dipped my hand in the water. It was hot. Too bad I didn't think to take the temperature at the time. It wasn't fun to have to tell the kids what had happened and have them see the tank like that. But they came in and took all the water out. We have left the tank empty for the 2 week break. Poor kids. Read more: windsoraquaria.proboards.com/thread/4354/prince-edward-public-school-gallon?page=2#ixzz5aNFfDnkW

Yeesh... it's always a heartbreak when a tank gets cooked. It isn't the first time it's happened, and it will not be the last, but that doesn't make the upset any easier. My biggest fear is, what happens to my tanks should my house catch fire? Whether I'm home or not, there's nothing I'd be able to do for them in time. I'm sorry this freak accident has occurred

I'm okay. I know it is in fact a freak accident. I've been in that room for 20 years, and at times the room has gotten too warm because it is a nearly 100 year old school using an old system, but this was an actual blow out in the line.
The kids were the most upset. A father of one of the kids said his son was upset about it when he got home and the father offered to buy us new fish.

This so awful to hear. Such freak accidents are rare but do happen. So sorry but at least you don't have to worry about them over the holidays. I can imagine how the kids feel.

Damn , I feel terrible for the students . I wish I had access to the classroom as I would have the tank up and running by the time they returned after the holidays.
Let me know what I can do .

One of the students said he has a fish that needs a new home and his father offered to buy a few fish for us. So we will get up and running again after the break.
