Lastly, my bettas tanks. Im still growing in the plants in these ones and adding as i go along. The tanks arent much special, but its a starting point. 3.5 gallon tall bowfront. Stupid coloured LED but it works. Plants get natural sunlight from the window in the morning and they seem to thrive well with that. Filter: The mini Topfin filter that came with the tank. Slow flow for the betta so that works for him. Plants: Amazon sword, wisteria, java fern Stock: 1 male veiltail betta (colour red and brown with blue iridescence, dalmation spots on fins) 1 nerite snail Franklin, the betta. Next is 2.5 gallon planted Plants: Amazon sword, crypt, wisteria, java fern Filter: DIY mini sponge Stock: 1 female traditional plakat And the lovely little wild lady, Mimic

I have not seen T.lalius (Red Striped Dwarf Gourami) for a very long time. Guessing Angelfins? Nice collection of fish. Definitely a Male in that picture, you can tell by the pointed Dorsal fin.

Gary He was from the new petsmart location next to Tecumseh Mall, a total fluke among their normal bulky looking sick ones. He was one of our very first fish, had him for some time now. Very healthy too, not hit by iridovirus either. I was told he was a wild strain of dwarf gourami as they are built differently than most nowadays. Ive seen ONE other like him, a couple months back at Pet Wise in their tank of dwarves.

Definitely a wild strain. The coloration gives that away clearly. Nice catch.
I haven't visited a Chain Pet Store in quite a while, might have to some browsing after they land their fish on a Tuesday morning.

Shipments come in thursdays apparently for our local petsmarts. Ive gotten oddballs a couple times. My original weitzmani corydoras have been found this way and also my agassizii corydoras too.

That's how I managed to find my C.ambiacus so many years ago, Petsmart oddballs. Well, that's good to know, back in 2000 to 2008 it was Tuesday mornings.

Gary Actually, since this fish has matured, i got a new identification on it today on planet catfish, they say ambiacus, based on the black only extending half way up the dorsal rather than into the upper half, also for being high bodied and having a bit of a snout. Personally, i love this cories, theyre so slow compared to the other species i keep.

Yeah that looked like what I had so many years ago. Get a large group of them, I found them extremely social. I started with a group of three, and while they hung out together, they mixed in with the other Corydoras I had at the time.
When I expanded the group to 15, they broke off and simply hung out with only themselves. It was quite the interesting display. Two groups of different Corydoras doing their own thing.
My future project will have Corydoras again, and yes, C.ambiacus. Funny how they always manage to get into Petsmart shipments. 15+ years later..
