We continue to do water changes. The tank is looking better but still smells more "fishy" than it used to. We cut the feeding back a little bit. I think it is looking/smelling better today. We don't need more flake food as I already had lots. But I'll get some of those pellets on the weekend. The little boy had dumped the whole thing in the tank.

Some carbon might do the trick with the "fishy smell"

We still need to squeeze out the sponges. Last week was a short week and "crazy" due to our "Crazy Olympics" event. This week is looking much more "routine". We did lose a glass catfish sadly this week though.

Sorry, spring gets crazy-busy for me because I am the EcoSchools teacher and there are a lot of environmental projects about to 'bloom' at school. The tank is doing just fine. The VP was in my room on Monday to cover for me and she said something like "I don't know if it is because I KNOW about all the professional help you've gotten with the tank, but I was looking at it thinking 'Wow, it's looking so spectacular this year". I said, "No, you're not wrong. It really is waaaaaayyyy better this year than it has EVER been". The kids are still loving the tank, esp. DT. He just loves it. Today he showed me 2 shrimp shells that had been discarded and found quite a sizeable shrimp in one corner. He is also the guy who noticed our first snails. We now have a small handful. I know their populations can take off so we will keep a watchful eye. I think DT will be a future member of your club!

I figured you were probably swamped with other projects. Glad to hear the tank in thriving and that the school is enjoying it. I think your right about DT becoming a future member. Remember if there's anything you need for the tank, just ask.

Hello - Sorry that it has been a while. Spring gets pretty nutty for me.
The fish tank is still doing well, although we lost a fish yesterday. Other than that we are keeping up with our water changes and feeding. The students' interest seems to have calmed down a bit but I think that is because they are working feverishly on their "Junk To Funk Fashion Show" outfits - an event we do each year for Earth Day. It's a fashion show in which the costumes have to be made from items headed to the trash or recycle bins. The show is Tuesday. I think once it is over, we will clean the 'crazy' from our classroom and things will settle down.
What is the plan for things at the end of the school year? I don't want to wait for the last day. It gets busy. If I know the game plan, I can manage things better from my end.
Hope everyone is well.

When ever is best for you I can come in and shut down the tank. All the fish will need to be bagged by species. I have all the supplies needed for this. The fashion show sounds like a fun event for the kids.
