We at the Windsor Aquarium Society have the opportunity to again sponsor the grade 7/8 classroom aquarium at Prince Edward Public School. This will be our 2nd year sponsoring Miss Walkers classroom tank. Last years tank was a great success as it really peaked the interest of a lot of students .

Last year we established Wednesday as "Fish Delivery Day" . This year since my work schedule is a little erratic at the moment fish will be delivered starting this coming week either Tuesday or Wednesday if that works for Miss Walker.

This is great. Any day is fine. There is always someone in the office even if I am not available. I am also still open to the idea of talking about this great partnership at one of your meetings. We have not cycled the tank yet though. Will that be our first step again this year?

Are you running the same hang on the back filter as last year? I can drop off a well seeded sponge filter to add to your tank like I did last year to help cycle your tank .

Hey guys, what is going to be the "idea" for this years tank? Are we changing up the tank for the kids? I mean we can do setups other than community tanks..... Shell dwellers, west african cichlids, central and south american cichlids etc. Just and idea....

Yes, it is the same filter on the back, but Les also had me running another in-the-tank filter of his (forgive my lack of knowledge).

I'm thinking a community tank until Christmas and then changing it up with a pair a convict cichlids to show the students there wonderful spawning and parental care they exhibit .

Dropped off the well seeded sponge filter along with a pump. This will help to make sure the tank is cycled. Also gave them a nice Anubis nana attached to a piece of driftwood.
Fish will start arriving next week , a little at a time.....

Hey! The kids are getting excited now.
We have moved the tank to what we think will be a better location. I run a Guitar Club at school and now have a lot of gear to store in my room. I'm putting the guitar area at the front of the classroom. So we moved the tank over to a table near the back. It feels better already. There are two chairs there and enough room in front of the tank for kids to work. It is near a window but not in direct sunlight. I'll be able to put some house plants around there too. I think it will give the area a nice cozy feel where students can sit down, stay a while, and really enjoy the fish. I'll post some pictures next week.

Make sure there's no draft from the window... that could potentially cause a multitude of problems.
